“In 20 years following the Internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in a consumer Internet app,” observed analysts for UBS.

The wunderkind AI writer — which can auto-generate AI writing that is of significantly higher quality than previous generations of AI writing — has stunned the writing world since its release November 30.

For a quick study on the frenzy over ChatGPT, check-out, “ChatGPT: Next Generation AI Writing Arrives,” by Joe Dysart.

Currently, ChatGPT is free to use.

*In-Depth Guide: Chatsonic: LearnWire offers an interesting overview of the new AI writer Chatsonic in this 17-minute video guide.

Essentially, the company behind the new tool licensed ChatGPT technology — then customized its version to offer real-time knowledge of the world in the AI writing it auto-generates.

Currently, ChatGPT’s knowledge of the world ends in 2021.

Another major difference: Chatsonic can auto-generate artwork, a capability that consumers must buy separately from OpenAI or another AI auto-art provider.

*ChatGPT Plus Coming — At $20: OpenAI — the maker of the wildly popular ChatGPT AI writer — announced that a plus version of the free tool is slowly being rolled-out.

Cost: $20/month.

Benefits of the AI writer’s Plus version include:

~General access to ChatGPT, even during peak times

~Faster response times

~Priority access to new features and improvements

Observes OpenAI’s Blog: “ChatGPT Plus is available to customers in the United States, and we will begin the process of inviting people from our waitlist over the coming weeks.

“We plan to expand access and support to additional countries and regions soon.”

*Challengers to the Throne: ChatGPT Competitors Pile On: In more incredibly good news for AI writing users, Watcher.guru reports a number of AI companies are attempting to elbow their way past ChatGPT for the title of most amazing AI writer.

One of the heavyweights among the contenders is an AI writing chatbot dubbed ‘Bard’ — which is being readied for contention by none other than Google.

Other players in AI writing are also looking to topple ChatGPT, include:

~Jasper AI

~OpenAssistant

~WordTune

~Chatsonic

Bottom line: All the competition virtually guarantees AI writing consumers will continue to see ever-increasing performance — at least in the short-term — and at extremely competitive rates.

*Whistling Past the Graveyard: These PR Pros Outwardly Sanguine on ChatGPT: As copywriters across the globe cower at the prospect of ChatGPT and similar AI writers gobbling up their jobs, the group of PR pros interviewed for this piece indicate they’re unperturbed.

Observes Kat Jackson, head of client services, The Media Foundry: “There’s a lot of fear-mongering.

“PR has a good history of evolving to suit new channels and ways to engage with audiences and people.

“And I’ve seen nothing to inflame concerns about the robot uprising just yet.”

Adds Fiona Scott, managing director, Scott Media: “There’s a lot of noise and fear around this at the moment.

“Yet I think we need to pause, take a breath and go with it.

“Whilst AI is growing and we cannot ignore it, we have to remember that AI is not personal — it doesn’t encapsulate emotions or the personal touch.”

*ChatGPT Coming to Microsoft Bing: Not satisfied with turning the world on its ear with ChatGPT’s writing prowess, maker OpenAI has also fixed its sights on disrupting Internet search.

Microsoft — the exclusive licensor of ChatGPT technology — already has a preview version of its Bing search engine, upgraded with ChatGPT.

Joanna Stern, a writer for the Wall Street Journal, is completely jazzed with the change.

Observes Stern: “After seeing the new Bing in action, I can confidently say this: A big change is coming to how we get information and how we interact with our computers.”

*Microsoft Boosts Teams With ChatGPT Tech: Microsoft Teams, a workplace communication platform used by millions, is getting a major makeover — using ChatGPT tech, front-and-center.

Dubbed ‘Teams Premium,’ all the features of the new upgrade are expected to roll-out by Q2 2023.

Observes writer Mary Reines: “Teams Premium and Bing are at the beginning of Microsoft’s plan to incorporate AI — much of it powered by OpenAI technology — across the company’s consumer and enterprise products.”

*BuzzFeed All-In on ChatGPT: Publisher BuzzFeed has announced plans to use ChatGPT tech to auto-generate content on its Web site.

Initial news of the move triggered BuzzFeed’s stock to skyrocket more than 300%.

Says Jonah Peretti, CEO, Buzzfeed: “In 2023, you’ll see AI-inspired content move from an R&D stage to part of our core business, enhancing the quiz experience, informing our brainstorming and personalizing our content for our audience.”

*With the Latest AI, Companies Can Respond Automatically to Online Reviews: Marketing platform SOCi has released a ChatGPT-tech upgrade designed to automatically respond to online reviews.

The tech integrates with major review sites — including Google, Facebook, and Yelp — and utilizes advanced machine learning algorithms to provide fast and accurate responses to customer reviews of businesses and their products and services in real-time.

Ideally, integration with ChatGPT will enable the tool to promptly respond to reviews in a way that is personalized, engaging and highly relevant to each customer.

Observes Alo Sarv, CTO, SOCi: “We’re excited to marry the power of the SOCi platform with the intelligence of ChatGPT.”

*AI Writer Cohere Angles for $6 Billion Valuation: AI company Cohere — no slouch when it comes to AI writing — is currently in talks to raise “hundreds of millions of dollars,” according to Reuters.

Observes writer Krystal Hu: “Cohere is planning on introducing a new dialogue model that would resemble ChatGPT to let enterprise users generate text and engage with the model to refine the output.

“Unlike ChatGPT, Cohere’s technology will mainly be accessible to developers and businesses (rather than marketed direct to consumers), CEO Aidan Gomez told Reuters in an interview.

If all goes as hoped, Cohere could end-up with a market valuation of $6 billion, according to Hu.

*AI Big Picture: You’ll Be Seeing ChatGPT’s Influence Everywhere: CNET predicts the world-dazzling ChatGPT tech will be showing up virtually “everywhere” in 2023.

Observes Michael Chui, partner, McKinsey Global Institute: “There’s a hype cycle to things, and obviously this has captured the imagination right now.

“But behind a hype cycle often (are) advancements that eventually get embedded into real use cases in business.

“And that has already begun.”
