Trigger Finger: Words-to-Video in Minutes

ChatGPT-Maker Readies New ‘Instant Video’ Tool

OpenAI is currently testing a new AI tool — dubbed ‘Sora’ — that can auto-generate a high-quality, 60-second video using just a string of words as input.

Observes writer Cade Metz: OpenAI has designed a system “that creates videos that look as if they were lifted from a Hollywood movie.

“A demonstration included short videos — created in minutes — of woolly mammoths trotting through a snowy meadow, a monster gazing at a melting candle and a Tokyo street scene seemingly shot by a camera swooping across the city.”

The ChatGPT-maker joins a number of other worthy competitors in the instant text-to-video space, including Runway, Google Lumiere and Stability AI.

You can check-out the instant videos OpenAI says it has created with its new tool on the OpenAI page for Sora.

*MS Copilot Hits Turbulence: MS Copilot — a kind of ChatGPT for Microsoft 365 software — has left some doubting if it’s worth it.

Observes writer Tom Dotan: The “software has been in the hands of testers for more than six months and their reviews are in: Useful, but often doesn’t live up to its price.

“So far, the shortcomings with software, including (with) Excel and PowerPoint — and its tendency to make mistakes — have given some testers pause about whether, at $30-a-head per month, if it’s worth the price.”

*Forget-Me-Not: ChatGPT Plans to Remember Everything for You — Even Your Privacy: ChatGPT is being redesigned to remember important facts you input into the chatbot — so that it gets to know you better over time.

Observes writer Cade Metz: “With this new technology, OpenAI continues to transform ChatGPT into an automated digital assistant that can compete with existing services like Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa.”

Users put-off by the monitoring feature — which is currently in testing — will have the option to deep-six enhance memory if they prefer, according to Metz.

*Clone-Your-Own ChatGPT — For Free: Coders can now create their own ChatGPT-like chatbots free-of-charge, thanks to Hugging Face.

The open source AI platform is offering many AI software alternatives to ChatGPT that developers can use for their creations.

Observes writer Graeme Hanna: “Last year, Hugging Face cemented its growing stature as an authoritative voice in the AI community with a pop-up event that attracted more than 5,000 people in downtown San Francisco.

“What started as a relatively informal, unassuming call for an open-source AI meet-up from company co-founder and CEO Clement Delangue turned into a seminal event, later dubbed the ‘Woodstock of AI.'”

*Bargain Bin AI: Automated Writing, On-the-Cheap: Add ThoughtForms.ai to the world’s ever-growing list of AI writers.

While the press release for ThoughtForms.ai reveals it offers nothing new in comparison to competitors, the company is offering aggressive pricing.

Its ‘Regular Plan’ goes for $9/month — and its ‘Golden Plan’ can be had for $69/year.

*Automated Charm: When Algorithms Craft Sales ‘Pickup Lines’: Salespeople can show-up to work each day with their sales pitches already cocked-and-loaded with the new ZoomInfo Copilot.

Observes Rob Morse, communications manager, ZoomInfo: “ZoomInfo Copilot unifies a company’s go-to-market data — including first-party CRM data and ZoomInfo’s best-in-class data — and applies generative AI to sift through the noise and identify insights sellers want.

“With ZoomInfo Copilot, salespeople get powerful AI-guided recommendations about who to contact, when to engage them — and even what to say across every channel.”

*Forget Love Triangles: It’s All About AI, Word and Legal Research Now: Users of AI legal drafting tool Clearbrief — used to draft legal documents in MS Word — can now access LexisNexis while they’re putting together those drafts with Clearbrief.

Observes writer Bob Ambrogi: “With this new integration, Lexis subscribers can now link citations created in Clearbrief directly to the source materials in the Lexis or Lexis+ legal research services — and they can directly access primary law on Lexis from within Clearbrief.”

*AI Big Picture: Grease is the Word: Tip-Hungry Chatbots to Roam Cyberspace: Writer Jerry Kaplan predicts all those handy AI assistants that will be automating life for us in the near future will also have their virtual hands out for a tip.

Observes Kaplan: “Soon we’ll be spending much of our precious leisure time — not to mention our cash — haggling with armies of electronic agents offering to smooth our transactions, secure scarce reservations, boost our chances, speed up our commutes and move us to the front of the line.

“And all they’ll ask in return is that we grease their programmatic palms with points, praise or pelf.”
