“The surge in usage post devday (November 6, when OpenAI rolled-out news of a substantial number of upgrades to ChatGPT) has exceeded our capacity.”

For OpenAI, it has to be a nice problem to have.

*CEO of ChatGPT Fired: In a move that brings new meaning to the word stunning, Sam Altman — the CEO of ChatGPT — has been fired.

The reason: Altman was accused by the board of OpenAI — the maker of ChatGPT — of soft-peddling the risks many see associated with AI.

Observes writer Cade Metz: “Since ChatGPT was released almost a year ago, artificial intelligence has captured the public’s imagination, with hopes that it could be used for important work like drug research or to help teach children.

“But some AI scientists and political leaders worry about its risks — such as jobs getting automated out of existence or autonomous warfare that grows beyond human control.”

The firing has scrambled the brains of many familiar with Altman, who squired the company in just a few short years to release one of the most popular software products in human history — ChatGPT.

*In-Depth Guide: Shoot-Out: Claude Pro vs. ChatGPT Plus: The ongoing good news for users of AI writing is that despite ChatGPT’s leadership role in the space, there are plenty of worthy competitors looking to tempt you with alternative offerings.

This guide offers a shoot-out with ChatGPT, featuring worthy contender Claude Pro.

The takeway from reviewer Michael Nuñez: “ChatGPT Plus, with its larger model, excels in creativity and complex reasoning, supplemented by a wide array of plugins for diverse tasks.

Observes writer Anthony Cuthbertson: “Despite claiming that Grok outperforms ChatGPT — which is freely available — xAI did acknowledge that it does not yet match the capabilities of OpenAI’s more powerful GPT-4 model.”

Still, the new AI chatbot is a vintage Elon Musk product — basking in its attempt to at once disrupt and ruffle feathers.

Adds Cuthbertson: “The tech billionaire claims his new Grok AI is both smarter and funnier than its rivals, offering paid users of X (formerly Twitter) the chance to ask it ‘spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems.'”

Observes writer Kyle Wiggers: “Outset taps GPT-4 — OpenAI’s flagship text-generating AI model — to lead interviews with participants in research studies.

“How, exactly? Outset users create a survey and share the link with prospective survey takers.

“Then, Outset, powered by GPT-4, follows up with respondents to clarify, probe on answers and create a ‘conversational rapport’ for deeper responses.”

“By revolutionizing the property description creation process with AI, we are helping GENA’s end-users bolster their prospects for success.”
